The ODECO II Gynecological Video Explorer

ODTM: NO.1909/20.05.2008 and M.S.P.Certificate No.RO/1-100-176-01

The "ODECO II Video Gynecological Explorer" is a newly device, efficient medical probe, for performing visual gynecological examination, without use of valves or the speculum, which ensures an enlarged, highly-improved image on regular color T.V., in a fairly rapid and comfortable way.

The obtained images can be stored on a "Memory Card SD" for later evaluation and printing on paper, if desired.

This medical device is imported from the USA, being made to order and it is going to be patented also in Romania.

We are selling it exclusively at the promotional price of  790 E + VAT - as compared to the approx. 2,000 E, the price of other cervical probes, which do not rise to quality in visual gynecological examination.

The difference in price arises from the use of last generation optical - electronic components and the direct sale, at manufacturing costs, with no distribution costs added.

The "V90 Memory Module" for storing the pictures on "Memory Cards SD" costs 290 E + VAT (and it can be used on all medical equipment, which need photo storage) and an Ink Jet color printer (which accepts "Memory Cards SD") costs about 100 E.

The device has a 24 month warranty and post-warranty as well as the possibility of being tested for a 30 day period before its purchase.

Here follows a technical description of this cervical explorer which works with a color video camera (CCD), having a diameter of 21.6 mm, and conveys the image of the examined area (over 4 sq. cm) from the vicinity of  its spherical optical cap to a color TV monitor with AV input.

Increasing the examined area depends on the size of the monitor screen (usually 20 times bigger).

Selected images can be stored in the "V90 Memory Module", on "Memory Cards SD" (on a 512 Mb card, which costs about 3 E, can be stored over 10,000 pictures or video clips) and printed on paper, using a color printer, for evaluating later modifications.

When in use, the device is protected, biologically and physico-chemically, with a disposable elastic membrane (of the medical / common condom type) and is disinfected or, as is the case, sterilized appropriately.

The device does not need special installing, setting or adjusting during manipulation (the cold light and focus are built on); it is robust, compacted for providing excellent examination and viewing on the TV monitor screen, as well as storing and printing the selected explored areas.

We thank you and stand at your disposal for further information.

                             INSTRUCTIONS

THE “ODECO II "  GYNECOLOGICAL VIDEO EXPLORER

ACONNECTING THE GYNECOLOGICAL VIDEO EXPLORER TO THE POWER SUPPLY AND TO THE VIDEO MONITOR

The image of the examined areas, captured by the video camera of the gynecological explorer, is conveyed through the coaxial cable of the apparatus witch has a RCA connector, to a TV monitor (a regular color TV with a cathode tube, LCD or plasma, with an “AV” input), where it can be viewed and analysed  by the physician and patient.
  1. When using the memory device to store images, the memory device will be connected to the mai unit with a RCA connector. The selected images on the TV screen will be stored by means of a remote control, on a “Memory Card SD” of the “Memory Module V90”. The images or video clips stored on the “Memory Card SD”, can be later rendered on the TV monitor or transferred on a computer which will process or print them on a color printer. You can also get a printing on paper directly from the “Memory Card SD” using a color printer which accepts Memory Cards.
Electric power supply is done by plugging the main unit into a 110/220 Vac socket.  B. PREPARING THE VIDEO EXPLORER FOR EXAMINATION

The explorer can be disinfected or sterilized properly, being made air tight with “O” rings and silicon adhesive. It can be protected biologically and physico-chemically with a disposable elastic membrane, the type of regular, commercial, transparent condoms.

The optical body of the device is lubricated with a water-soluble jelly, after which it is introduced into the elastic membrane. It is important that the membrane to cover the optical body uniformly, with no air bubbles, so as not to distort the image of the examined area; therefore, it should be stretched properly, especially in the case of membranes without hemispherical end shape. For easy insertion, the lubricating jelly is used once more before introducting the optical device into the vagina.

In Romania transparent elastic membranes “ROMED HOLLAND” can be purchased from “Medical Technologies LTD SRL” in Bucharest, Phone: 021.324.32.60.

 C. PERFORMING THE EXAMINATION

When introduced into the vagina, the apparatus performs visual examination in direct contact with the observed area; this particular area being equal in size with the spherical cap of the optical body. As the optical device advances, the walls of the vagina, followed by the deep vaginal end and the cervix appear on the screen. The examined area must not be pressed with the optical body of the apparatus, as it can be flattened and the colour differences blurred. Therefore, the optical body must be positioned in the vicinity of the examined zone, without distorting it.

The physician can linger on certain zones of medical interest and store the relevant images in the memory module for later comparison of modifications taking place in these chosen areas. The apparatus does not need any focus adjustment, as the image obtained on the screen is always correctly focused on the area to be examines in the nearness of the spherical cap of the optical body.

Because the device is correctly focused, the image on the TV screen is always enhanced by a constant multiplication factor (which depends only on the diagonal of the TV monitor used).

In this way the modifications occurring with time in the examined area can be measured and compared easily and precisely.

Manipulation of the device in the interior of the vagina is limited by the semi-elastic structure of its body, allowing no accidents in case of more drastic manipulation.

When working with contrast substances for treatments tests or other medical procedures, you will need to use the valves or the speculum; in many cases the “ODECO” Video Explorer can be inserted through these valves or speculum.

On completing the examination, the disposable membrane is removed and the apparatus will be disinfected or sterilized. The lubricating jelly will be cleaned from the optical body, and not allowed to dry, because the image obtained may be affected by the elastic membrane and the optical body’s surface getting opaque.

  D. GENERAL REMARKS

The apparatus must not be dismantled by the user, as the components are assembled by screw-fastening and made air-tight with “O RINGS” and silicon adhesive.

WARNING:  You will need to employ adequate methods for sterilization.

There is no danger of radiation or electrocution, as the apparatus performs at low voltage (12Vdc) and is protected against accidental voltages of over 12 V.

The apparatus is durable, fault-proof, shock-proof and easy to use.
